Top EHR Trends in 2016

Cathy Reisenwitz, a researcher with software firm Capterra, said that four things can be expected to trend in the Electronic Health Record (EHR / EMR) space in 2016; more cloud-based services, better patient portals, telemedicine will grow, and more EHRs will be available on mobile platforms.

The market for EHR software is predicted to be worth about $35.2 billion by 2019 according to research firm Kalorama. The EHR space has over 400 providers, but increasing mergers and acquisitions will lower that number in coming years. Black Book, another research firm, released their rankings report showing that doctors prefer cloud-based EMRs and that adoption of these systems is on the rise. “The focus of healthcare technology vendors needs to be on mobile, cloud, and data integration to successfully meet the future demands of the changing healthcare landscape,” said Doug Brown, managing partner of Black Book.

Cloud-based records make sense to many physicians – they are cost-efficient with no high infrastructure costs, they allow for improvements and updates to be made easily and they are accessible from everywhere, which increases productivity.

As data and data sharing grows, EHR software needs to be able to support that data with few errors, easy accessibility and ease of use – not only for the practitioner, but also for the general public who are accessing their data in meaningful ways.

We have found great advancement in the technology field in the last years, the businesses and startups are taking advantage of this growing digital field and we also suggest that the businesses should closely follow the top and latest digital marketing trends of 2017.
